Wedding Invitation Ornament

If you're unfamiliar with Pinterest, you need to get with the picture. It's a wonderful site packed full of inspiration. I've have been diligently pinning away for the past month-ish. So this week I joined the Pinterest Party over at Young House Love. They have challenged readers to make one thing that they pinned, a sort of stop-pinning-and-start-doing time.

I made a wedding invitation ornament, which is really exciting because the hubs and I have been married for over two years, and I have yet to do anything with all my memories and pictures. About time, don't you think? This idea comes from Christy Robbins, who I found through Pinterest, duh.

I took my wedding invitation and cut it into strips, choosing the lines that were most meaningful. I rolled the pieces around a pen and inserted the curled strips into the ornament. I used tweezers a little bit, just to help arrange the words. Since we had a beach wedding, I grabbed a shell charm to add to the top. Perfection. Mine is hanging from a lamp in our living room.

If I ever do this again, I think I would choose only strips with words. I thought I was being all creative and artsy because I used blank strips too, but it turns out I just got a bunch of blank strips. Duh right? Oh well, maybe next time.

Like how I said "duh" two times in this post, well now three. It's like we are in middle school right?! Duh. Ok, I'm duh-ne. Geez I'm in a weird mood today.

So, I'm Tabitha's friend. I found you through HER blog and gotta say that you are the FIRST person I know who ALSO follows YHL! I'm a loyal reader for 3 years, now. I pinned that ornament on Pinterest, also. Such a cute idea. I just gotta get married first ;-)
I hope it's ok that I..."follow" you.
